Hawk Attack

Well, I did end up going out in the snow, only to go next door. I passed this grisly scene near the bird feeder. I'd never seen something like this before. A hawk managed to get a cardinal an hour or two before I took this photo. Feathers and tufts were strewn over a 20 foot wide area.

Update: no sign of it now. It's all covered over by snow.

So you filled your bird feeder with Cardinals instead of seed?

Perhaps St. Louis cardinals.

But actually I saw 5 or so cardinals near the feeder this morning. After this "incident", I didn't see any for the rest of the day.

Ah makes sense now...I see your St. Louis Cardinal's fielding of the Hawk was no better than the Tigers pitchers fielding of the Cardinals - a mess.
